Crocheting

So a couple of days ago I got on youtube and started looking around for crochet tutorials. Keep in mind I'm left handed. I tried youtube because I can't read patterns. I found a tutorial by a guy for a never-ending granny square. Guy was right handed so everything he did I had to reverse in my head, but I gave it a shot and I'm well on my way to having a blanket. Because you're using three different yarns for every full round you make of the colors you gain about 2.5 inches.
I also found a tutorial for making crochet earrings. I'm toying with the idea of buying some of the thin yarn for it and making some to sell. I'm not sure how well they would sell, but considering they shouldn't take too much material or time to make them I could probably sell them for $15 a pair and make a profit.
Next blanket project on my list came from a tutorial to make a star baby blanket. I think I'll give that a shot as well. I've been crocheting for a few years now and finished several baby blankets for family or friends, even sold one to a girl I worked with a few years ago. Now I'm thinking maybe I could get into etsy.com and use it to sell them. I'm just not sure the market for it, or of pricing. Really I only want to cover my materials and make a small profit. I crochet more for the love of doing it. It makes me feel connected to my mom, and even my grandpa's mom who my mom learned to crochet from.
As far as other things in my life I think things are looking up for now. I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop to be honest. Mom's finally taken to eating more, Dakota's finally realized she needs to conserve gas and not run around town all the time, and I'm... well I'm relieved.
On the other hand, I currently have three crochet projects going, one of which I'm working on with my mom. I also have three pieces of fanfic started. One of which I started last year and I think I may have two paragraphs done. The other is a fic I started in a friend's universe, got two pages into it and got stuck. The last one I started a couple of weeks ago. It's coming as slow as molasses, but if I ever manage to finish it, it will be very cathartic for me. It's a high school AU about Adam finding out his grandma has a brain tumor and the experiences he goes through during that. It also introduces Tommy, his online friend, who he gets really close to during the ordeal. A lot of the events in the fic are based in fact. A lot of them are changed a little. And some of it never happened. I think it will be a chance for me to revisit those emotions I felt then and deal with some of the things I couldn't deal with then.
Anyway, I think that's really all I have to say for now. It's 4:30 and I need to put my lunch in the stove. Had a really late breakfast.
