Got a wild hair up my ass this morning and looked up a recipe online for pumpkin cake that called for ingredients I already had handy. Found this:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/pumpkin-cake-i/detail.aspx and made it. The batter was thicker than I expected. I only used 2 cups of sugar and added way more spice because I do that with everything I make. Instead of using the pan they called for I used two nine inch rounds and a muffin pan. I got two cakes and six muffins out of one batch of batter. Also cut the cooking time to 30 minutes.
Maryann came over while I was cooking and brought some vanilla since I didn't realize we were out. She stayed until it was finished and I sent a cake with her and then took two of the muffins to our elderly neighbor. She always gives us stuff from her garden so I always take her stuff when I cook.
Did all the dishes, vacuumed the floor, went outside a dragged all those heavy trash bags up to the top of the road, came back in and stripped the sheet off the couch and put another back on, tossed that along with my blankets in the washer, and now I think I'm done for the day. I should probably actually try the cake, it'll be breakfast, but I think I'm going to shower first.
Edit: Just tried the cake. It's delicious. Very amused.
