Meeting Adam Lambert
Aug. 30th, 2010 11:26 amAugust 28th, 2010… one year and twenty-six days after seeing Adam Lambert on the Idols Live tour for the first time I finally got to meet him. It was one of the best days of my life.
Wednesday I won a contest through Facebook for meet and greet passes, and let me tell you the rest of the week I was a nervous wreck, but come Saturday morning I was fairly sure when I opened my mouth to speak to Adam I was gonna puke on his shoes. I can’t begin to tell you how important it was to me, so I actually wrote down what I wanted to say to him, because I know when I’m like that I can’t think coherently enough to make sense. So Saturday morning I got up at six, took a show, got dressed, blow dried my hair, threw on my makeup, and left out at eight to meet
nobodybetterer. She lives about an hour from me, and there was no way our car could have made it to Raleigh so she was kind enough to have me in tow. Let me tell you she and her daughter are so sweet and I had fun on the way down there and was distracted enough to not be trembling. We finally made it to Raleigh about 12:30, checked into the hotel, and then began the fun search of figuring out where the venue was.
Really interesting because there was a venue right across from our hotel, but alas it was the wrong one. However, turned out the venue was about a block and a half walk from our hotel and we walked there and looked around. It was beautiful and had a long fountain out front with tables for you to sit, but again not where we were interested in. Went around the venue and found the barricades where a few people were scattered, and then we went back toward the hotel in search of food. We had lunch at a lil Italian place called La Volta. I was truly shocked I was able to eat as nervous as I was but the place was excellent. I ordered veggie pizza rolls, so of course I was thinking something like Tostinos or maybe egg rolls. I was seriously surprised when something the size of a burrito came out on a plate for me, but it was delicious and stuffed with mushrooms, cheese, onions, green peppers, and spinach mmmmm.
Yes always sidetracked by the thought of food, though by this point I’d had a small bowl of cereal when I got up so I guess being distracted by lunch was a good thing. After lunch we went back to the hotel and met up with
blackcolorliner,
happy_1225, and Tawnee forgive me I don’t actually know if she has an LJ. We all made the trek to the venue again, and as I was walking toward the barricades I hear a couple of people screaming my name. That was a tad surreal, but my girls were there. So I hung out most the day with Debbie, Danielle, Morgan, Rose, and Kasey. There were a few other people here and there I met who I knew from twitter which was interesting, but it was so good catching up with Debbie, Danielle, and Morgan again because I hadn’t seen them since we went to the S9 Idols Tour together on July 25th.

Debbie and I at the barricades.
I stayed at the barricades until about 5:15pm and then decided to go back to the hotel to fix my makeup and cool off a lil. I knew the moment I left that Tommy would come out because that is my luck and sure enough when Morgan and I got back Tommy and Taylor had came out. Oh well. Stood around the barricades until about 6pm and then went up to the tables by the fountain and sat down to wait for Maggie and in the process ended up running into one of the girls I knew from twitter, then Morgan and Rose came up and sat down, then Maggie got there and we all sat and chatted until it looked like people were lining up to go in.
Had to pick up the meet and greet passes at will call, and when I got them in my hand I was shaking so badly. Bless Maggie’s heart she kept telling me to breathe, that I’d be fine, that I wasn’t gonna puke on his shoes. She also got my camera so she could take pictures while I was talking to him and took a test shot right after I got the passes.

This is the look of nervousness.
So they took us back and we were waiting outside the door talking and I think he was late getting in, but the minute I heard his voice I started freaking out even more. So again Maggie is talking to me getting me to talk about random things to keep me distracted. I swear to you without her I would have prolly passed out. The line shifted, we were near the end of the line, and when I walked in the door I had a surreal moment. Neil standing on a chair taking pictures and Adam standing there talking and of course the first thing I notice is ‘oh my god he’s wearing flip-flops and his toes are green, oh fuck I’m gonna puke on his feet.’ I proceeded to ramble something very similar and insane to Maggie who again reminded me to breathe. Are you seeing a pattern here?
Then this happened:

Please ignore my goofy faces omg.

This one Maggie took by accident and apologized for it. I was like no it fine, TOES! She proceeded to tell me I was the only one who would be thrilled she accidentally got a pic of his feet.
I got to thank him for all the friends I’ve made along with a more personal side to it which I don’t want to share here, and I remember him saying ‘oh my god’ and ‘that’s awesome,’ but he was touching my arm and I kinda died. He signed my card that I made before the Charlotte show that everyone but Cam had already signed and my sign I made for the concert. The front said ‘somewhere over the rainbow there are…’ and he read it and signed the front and I told him to flip for the full message. The back says ‘free kisses b/c all is love’ and he laughed. Then I somehow managed to leach myself onto his side for the photo Neil took. I can say I was shocked because as thin as he’s gotten recently I expected him to be boney or something, but I side hugged him for the pic and he’s kinda like squishing a teddy bear. My pic is the only one taken from Saturday where someone is turned into him. Is it weird or something? I tend to turn into people when they’re taller than I am for pics and if we’re the same height I put my arm around their neck.

All the other pics from their website and that we took in that room were really light and I had to autocorrect. This one however I didn’t correct at all. I don’t know how Neil did it but I’m glad.
So after I finally walked away from what must’ve only been about five minutes of word vomit I literally body slammed poor Maggie and told her I loved her while still in the room with Adam. She got her pic with Adam and I somehow managed to stuff the camera back into its case and we left.
Now here is the fun part. When we came in the usher asked if we had our tickets scanned and of course we hadn’t, so it took five minutes of me shaking and searching through my bag to realize my ticket wasn’t in there. It turned out it was in my back pocket. This is also where I say that Maggie bless her heart if not for her I would have never had a ticket to begin with had bought me a pit seat as a thank you for taking her to the meet and greet. So here I am third time seeing Adam and all three times I’ve been second row. So I had and extra ticket and Maggie took it to a girl who was sitting at the very back up in the balcony alone and brought her down. The girl thanked me, but honestly I didn’t want the ticket to go to waste, and it was six rows back in the section behind the pit on the far right. Pay it forward guys.
So this is where I am completely scattered and the details are really fuzzy as far as set list and what songs what things happened in, but here are the things that stuck out in my mind. Allison Iraheta is fucking AMAZING. I love Scars so much and I love her lil dance during Robot Love, but man is she a bitch to get a decent picture of.

Then the glittery god got on stage and made love to the crowd.

Skin… pretty skin.

Fever:

Then there was a Fever lick and I got a picture… sorta… I got excited and flailed at the wrong moment.

This is also the point where I tell you that during the Charlotte show and the Idol show last year I wore earplugs. For Raleigh I took them out for Adam’s set and I was surprised by how much higher his speaking voice sounded than it had earlier in the day. Also while I hate Soaked on the CD… they ain’t no denying that song is fucking beautiful live. You guys know if you know me though that Aftermath is my song. Gods it was absolutely gorgeous and I found myself closing my eyes at points just listening to his voice.

Also this happened… I’m not sure during what song but damn Tommy was so close.

Again dunno when it happened but damn Tommy and his pretty lips.

Then before I knew it, it was time for IIHY and Tommy’s intro where the lil minx jacked his bass, licked his finger, and then jacked it some more. Here are a couple pics from the intro.

I jumped and bounced and danced through the whole show and then managed to catch one interesting shot at the end. I loved Tommy’s hair.

So this is where I left to go to the barricades because I hate 20th Century Boy, and have heard Mad World a million times. Turns out he only did Mad World so I didn’t even miss pretty writhing on the floor. And instead I got a pic with Liz, who I absolutely adore. She is such a sweetie.

LP came out and signed, and then Adam, and that was it. Tommy and Monte didn’t come out which I found unusual, but gah the show was amazing, I had a blast. I got to meet more amazing people and see my friends and I met Adam. Best day ever.

The rest of my pics some decent some suck you can find here.

Date: 2010-08-30 04:40 pm (UTC)So was Neil in the room the whole time? Were you in there by yourself w/o other fans? Did ppl bring him gifts or give him cards or anything? Did he actually sign two things for you?
Adam didn't seem to mind the side hug :) I do that too...wonder if it has to do with being short and trying to get your head in a comfortable place? Hmm....never really thought about that before!
I'm so glad it was such an amazing experience for you!!

Date: 2010-08-30 05:00 pm (UTC)Yes Neil was there the whole time taking pics. We were in a line and they would take pics and the people would leave... Maggie and I hung back so my advice is try to get to the end of the line so you don't have a whole crowd of ppl watching you it makes it less freaky. I didn't see anyone with gifts but again I was at the end and most the ppl were gone by the time I got in the room and was watching. Also yes he signed two things for me.
You know it might be the short thing... but I have always done it and I think he knew while I was quite shaky and chatty that I was harmless.
